TRIP TO SUNWAY PETTING ZOO

Students who are going to Petting Zoo on the 5/6/10 , are you ready for the trip ?

We are going to have a lot of fun ! Don't forget to take your breakfast . You will need the energy as you will be doing exciting activities throughout the day. A few competitions will be held and prizes will be given away.

Your attire for the day : School Sports Attire

Things to bring : a cap , a bottle of water , stationery , coloured pencils and some pocket money.

Please be in school by 8 a.m. We will be back by 5p.m.

ONE DAY IN UCSI

On 22/5/10 , 31 pupils from Year 4- 6 accompanied by Pn. Ng and Mr. Zainul were in UCSI for a trial English lesson in conjunction of their Open Day.

Pupils from SK Cheras Indah were also there. After a short briefing, the pupils were brought to their classrooms .They learnt through games, songs , and etc.

At about 11.45a.m. , they had their lunch . After that, it was games time. They played ' Human Scrabble ' and Treasure Hunt '. Our pupils won both the games !

After a photo session , it was time to leave . The pupils enjoyed themselves and definitely learnt a lot .

The English Panel of the school would like to thank UCSI for their invitation and we are looking forward to working together again with them in the future .

INFORMATION TRANSFER

In question 2 for Paper 2 , there are two sections.

In 2a , you are supposed to read the advertisement / notice or any text given .

Then look at the words written in the table given. There are a few things that you need to be very careful.

- check if the words begin with capital or small letters.
- look out for puntuations such as commas , full stops, etc.
- ' RM ' must be writen correctly. ( The letter ' M ' must not look like a big ' m ' )

Once you are ready, transfer the information from the text to the table.

Make sure you do not make any mistakes as this section is the easiest to score.

After you have transfered the answers, check again and edit if necessary.

You will be awarded 15 marks if you get all the answers right.

Now look at the next section ( 2b )

- First, read the question to find out what is needed.

- Ask yourself who are you making the choice for . If you are choosing something for yourself, use ' I ' but if you are not, find out if the person is a male or a female. If the person is a female, use ' she ' but if the person is a male, use ' he ' . If there are more than a person, use ' they ' and if it is for you and someone , use ' we ' .

- Based on the points or facts given in the table, write good reasons for your choice.
- For each point, support it with a good reason.
For example ,

1. It is only RM30 . It is very cheap.
2. It is only RM30 which is the cheapest among the three.
3. It is only RM30. I think it is reasonable and affordable.

* The sentences in red are the points while the sentences in blue are the reasons.

- Only points with good reasons will be awarded marks.

* If you are not sure how to come out with good reasons, consult your teacher.

UCSI English Academy Open Day

UCSI English Academy will be having an Open Day on Saturday , 22nd May 2010 at its campus in Cheras.

The purpose of having the Open Day is to help create public awareness towards the programmes offered at UCSI English Academy. One of the programmes which is suitable for primary school children is English Holiday Progrmme.

In conjunction with their Open Day, there will be a complimentary trial class of the English Holiday Programme and English games from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

All students from Year 4 - 6 can participate in the programme as classess will be conducted for all levels.

UCSI English Academy will provide transportation from our school to UCSI University campus and for the return journey. Snacks and drinks will be provided for the participating students at UCSI English Academy campus.
